EV Charger HubUK

Methodology

Transparency about how we verify grant figures, rank chargers, source data, and structure affiliate disclosures.

Last grant figure verification: 19 May 2026

We re-check the four active OZEV scheme figures against gov.uk every week. If you spot an outdated number, email us and we'll correct it within 24 hours.

Grant figure sourcing

All OZEV grant amounts, eligibility, and sunset dates are sourced from official gov.uk pages, specifically:

Our weekly verification process: every Monday we re-load each gov.uk page and compare against the figures on our site. Any change is reflected within 24 hours, and the article's "Updated" date is bumped.

Charger reviews and rankings

Our charger comparison uses six factors, weighted by the audience:

  • OZEV approval (gate factor — non-approved chargers are flagged but ranked separately)
  • Total cost (unit + install, after grant if applicable)
  • Smart features (app quality, Intelligent Octopus Go support, scheduling)
  • Solar PV compatibility (energy diversion quality)
  • UK installer network depth (how easy to get installed nationally)
  • Customer ratings (Trustpilot, Reddit r/EVUK, ChargeOptions, MGEVs forum)

Audience-specific weighting: for landlords, total cost and installer network matter most. For renters, portability and Intelligent Octopus Go matter most. For solar households, PV diversion matters most. We don't hide this — it's why "best for" labels exist on each charger page.

Cost ranges

City-specific installation cost ranges (e.g. £750–£1,500 in Manchester) are derived from:

  • Installer quotes published on Checkatrade, MyBuilder, MyJobQuote
  • Pod Point and Ohme official installation calculators
  • Reader-submitted quotes (anonymised, when we collect 10+)

These are estimates. Actual quotes vary by individual circumstances (cable run distance, consumer unit age, conservation area). Always get 2-3 quotes before committing.

Affiliate disclosures

We earn commission from the following partners (organised by relationship type):

  • Awin merchants: Go Zero Charge, evec, Bark.com, Pod Point — paid on successful sale or qualified lead, depending on merchant
  • Direct installer partnerships (planned):OZEV-authorised installers across major UK regions — paid per qualified lead, no placement bias. Not active at launch.

Whenever a link earns us commission, it's identified by inline text or a footer disclosure. No hidden affiliate redirects.

What commission doesn't buy: ranking position, "best for" labels, recommended-charger placement on audience landing pages. These are based on product fit, not commission size. If a higher-commission charger is genuinely worse for an audience, we say so.

Editorial process

  1. Research — gov.uk sources, manufacturer specs, installer interviews, customer reviews
  2. Draft — every article passes through the founder ( about) before publication. No fully AI-generated content is published.
  3. Sources — every grant figure has a gov.uk link. Every product claim is linked to manufacturer or independent source.
  4. Date stamp — Published + Updated date visible on every article. The Updated date reflects actual re-verification, not edit timestamp.
  5. Weekly review — Monday cycle: re-check all 4 active OZEV scheme pages on gov.uk, update site within 24 hours.

Mistakes and corrections

If you spot an error — outdated grant figure, incorrect product spec, misleading claim — email hello@evchargerhub.uk with the page URL and what you noticed. We aim to correct verified errors within 24 hours and credit the reporter (if they want it).

Not in scope

  • Workplace EV charging beyond brief overview — WCS is a B2B procurement decision better served by specialist consultants
  • Commercial fleet charging — Faz 2 expansion
  • EV lease and finance advice — we don't advise on credit, finance, or salary-sacrifice decisions
  • Public charging network reviews — Zap-Map and PlugShare cover this well

We use cookieless analytics (Plausible — no personal data). When you click through to a partner installer or chargepoint brand, a 30-day affiliate cookie may be set. See our privacy policy.
