Which EV chargers are OZEV approved in 2026?
Most major UK chargers are OZEV approved: Ohme Home Pro, Pod Point Solo 3S, Zappi 2.1, Andersen A3, Wallbox Pulsar Plus, Easee One, Go Zero, EVEC, and Hypervolt Home 3 Pro. The notable exception is Tesla Wall Connector — not OZEV approved, so not eligible for the £500 grant.
Tethered or untethered — which should I pick?
Tethered: cable attached, ready to plug in (slightly more convenient daily but harder to upgrade). Untethered: socket only, you use the cable that came with your car (more flexible, ages better with new EV models). For most UK homes, tethered Type 2 is the popular default.
What's Intelligent Octopus Go and which chargers support it?
Intelligent Octopus Go is the cheapest UK EV tariff (~7p/kWh off-peak). It needs charger-side smart integration to schedule automatically. As of 2026: Ohme, Zappi, Andersen, Hypervolt all natively support it. Pod Point only supports the standard (less smart) Octopus Go.
Do I need solar PV compatibility?
Only if you have solar panels installed (or plan to). Zappi is the market leader for solar PV diversion — it routes free excess solar energy to your EV. Most other smart chargers offer basic solar awareness; Zappi's is best-in-class.
